Who is responsible for your data

Kured Food is a personal field guide run by David Siddle in the UK. This policy explains how I handle personal data on kuredfood.com. For privacy questions, email hello@kuredfood.com.

Newsletter subscriptions

If you subscribe, I collect the email address you enter so I can send occasional notes when I publish a new experiment or guide. Subscribing is separate from your analytics choice. You can subscribe even if you reject analytics.

MailerLite manages the subscriber list and sends emails on my behalf. The current subscription uses single opt in. MailerLite records information needed to deliver emails and manage subscriptions. Open tracking is enabled, so emails may contain a small tracking image that reports whether an email was opened. Links in emails may be tracked so I can see whether they were clicked. Google Analytics campaign tracking in MailerLite is off.

I rely on your consent to send the newsletter. You can withdraw that consent through the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting me. I keep your email address while you are subscribed. After you unsubscribe, MailerLite may retain a limited suppression record so that your unsubscribe request continues to be respected.

Analytics choice

Google Analytics 4 and Cloudflare Web Analytics only load after you select Accept analytics. If you reject analytics, neither service is loaded by this website and no analytics data is sent by the site. I use a necessary first party preference cookie named kured_analytics_consent to remember your choice for six months.

You can review or change your choice at any time through Analytics settings in the footer. If you withdraw consent, the site stops future analytics loading and attempts to remove removable Google Analytics cookies set for Kured Food. Your new choice applies from that point onwards. It cannot remove data already received by an analytics provider.

Google Analytics 4

If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 helps me understand visits and how people use the site. Enhanced measurement is configured to collect page views, scrolls, outbound clicks and form interactions. Site search, video engagement and file download collection are off. A successful newsletter subscription sends a sign_up event only when analytics has been accepted.

Google Analytics may set first party cookies including _ga and a property specific _ga_* cookie. These help distinguish visits and users. Google may process device, browser, page, interaction and approximate location information. Google says IP addresses are used to derive location information and discarded before the data is logged.

Event data and user data retention are both set to 14 months. Reset on new user activity is off. Google Signals and user provided data collection are off. No Google Ads account is linked. I do not use Google Analytics for advertising on this site.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

If you accept analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics helps me understand page views and basic site performance. Cloudflare says this service does not use cookies, local storage or fingerprinting to identify individuals. I still place it behind the same analytics choice so the site does not load its analytics beacon before you accept.

Hosting and security

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include IP addresses, request details, device and browser information, security signals and server logs. This processing is separate from the optional analytics choice because it is needed to serve the website and keep it secure.

Who receives data

I do not sell personal data. MailerLite processes newsletter data. Google processes data when Google Analytics is accepted. Cloudflare processes hosting and security data, and analytics data when Cloudflare Web Analytics is accepted. These providers may use approved legal safeguards when personal data is processed outside the UK.

How long information is kept

Newsletter data is kept while you are subscribed, subject to the limited suppression record described above. The analytics preference cookie lasts for six months. Google Analytics event and user data are retained for 14 months. Hosting and security records are kept under Cloudflare's applicable retention periods.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law may give you rights to access, correct or erase your personal data, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy in a portable form. You can also withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@kuredfood.com if you want to exercise a right or ask a question.

Complaints

If you are concerned about how I handle personal data, please contact me first so I can try to resolve it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when the website or the services it uses change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
